Interpret skill ratings and readiness carefully

Use repeated observations to guide teaching without turning the toolkit into a pass-or-fail score.

Levels assessment ratings describe what an instructor observes at a point in time. They are not a final grade, a percentage, or a diagnosis.

Use observable evidence

Look for the dancer's ability to recall, demonstrate, and apply a movement with the level of support described on the form. Observe more than once and in more than one activity when possible.

Separate progress from placement

A single skill rating does not decide an entire level placement. Consider the lesson sequence, movement vocabulary, coordination, musicality, safety, confidence, and consistency across skills. Formal placement criteria are still being refined.

Plan the next class

Use the results to decide what to repeat, simplify, demonstrate differently, or revisit later. Share progress in encouraging language that explains what the dancer can do and what they are working toward.

If a placement or safety decision is unclear, use professional judgment and contact Levels for curriculum guidance without sending personally identifying dancer details through chat.
