How can I use props, colors, and visual aids with preschool dancers?
Bonita’s Using Props, Colors, And Visual Aids guide presents props as tools for attention, imagination, rhythm, and clear class directions. Choose the prop for the teaching purpose, rather than adding equipment to every activity.
A teddy bear can be an imaginary audience or partner: children practice showing a familiar movement to it.
Scarves can support color choices, imaginative movement, and a familiar freeze activity.
Beanbags can help children notice and name body parts during a simple teacher-led activity.
Maracas or tambourines can make a rhythm or stop-and-start cue easier to hear.
Colored floor spots can give children a visible place to return to and help organize transitions.
Demonstrate the task before handing out props. Give one clear direction, show the return or cleanup routine, and keep the activity short. These are teaching examples, not a required shopping list or permission to introduce a more difficult movement.
Use equipment your studio approves for the dancers’ age, activity, space, and supervision. Follow studio safeguarding and facility procedures. Props or mats do not make an advanced or inverted movement automatically suitable or safe; this public article does not provide instructions for those techniques. Prepare the class from the lesson purpose
Choose the relevant Hip Hop Level 1 lesson and identify its main idea.
Select fewer movements and use shorter activity blocks.
Demonstrate one direction at a time.
Use repetition, imagination, and simple choices.
Keep transitions active and predictable.
Observe attention, coordination, comfort, and safety before adding difficulty.
Use the Blueprint as professional learning and adapt the Level 1 material to the dancers in front of you. Follow studio safeguarding and facility procedures and work within your instructor qualifications. The Blueprint does not establish a formal preschool placement standard.
Blueprint and Preschool Curriculum are different
The Blueprint videos are available as supplemental training for eligible accounts. The complete separate Preschool Curriculum is not available yet. Do not assume the Blueprint unlocks another curriculum or that a release date has been confirmed.
