Understand Levels curricula, levels, and weeks

How the six curricula, 40-week sequences, level overviews, and preschool guidance fit together.

Levels currently includes Hip Hop 1, 2, and 3 and Breaking 1, 2, and 3. Each curriculum contains 40 weeks.

What a level means

A level groups lessons by the movement vocabulary and teaching focus shown in that curriculum. The portal’s level overviews are introductory guidance. Formal placement criteria are still being refined, so use the lesson content and your observations when choosing a starting point.

How the weeks work

Each week provides a lesson focus, key concepts, warm-up, skills and demonstrations, a class activity, dancer practice, family connection, linked videos, and a one-page handout. The sequence supports progressive teaching across the year.

How to use the sequence

Follow the weeks in order when that fits your program. You can repeat a week or spend longer on a concept when the class needs more time. Repeating material is part of teaching the curriculum and does not require renaming or rearranging the master lesson.

Choosing a starting point

Review the level overview and the first few lessons. Consider the dancers’ prior experience, coordination, musicality, safety, and ability to use the movement vocabulary. If the fit is unclear, start with the more foundational level and observe before moving forward.

Preschool

The Preschool Blueprint explains how to adapt Level 1 for younger learners. A separate preschool curriculum is planned but is not yet presented as a finished 40-week level in the portal.
