A substitute does not need the owner’s password. For one-off coverage, eligible teachers can prepare a reviewed plan and share a private, time-limited link to that lesson. For ongoing team teaching, a studio owner or administrator can connect the teacher through the studio invitation workflow.
Prepare the correct lesson
In the Teaching Studio, open the lesson for a class you are authorized to teach. Confirm the class, curriculum, week, and class length.
Find Need help adapting this lesson? and choose Plan with Levels.
Choose Prepare a substitute, select the correct Class, and choose the substitute’s experience with Levels.
Add a short teaching note if useful, without dancer names or private family, medical, or other sensitive details. Choose Create plan.
Review the entire plan, timings, teaching priorities, and selected resources. Use Edit plan if needed, then save the edits and choose Save plan when it is ready.
The plan is a draft for a teacher to review, not a substitute for professional judgment. If no matching class is assigned, ask the owner or administrator to check the class and your assignment before creating a plan.
Share one lesson with a guest teacher
After the substitute plan is saved, use Private substitute access. Choose a duration of 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days, then choose Create link. Copy the private link when it is shown and send it directly to the intended substitute.
The link opens the saved plan, its lesson handout, and selected videos without giving the guest the full curriculum library, studio dashboard, or another person’s account. This is single-lesson coverage, not a new studio membership or permission to redistribute the materials.
Anyone with the link can use it while it is valid. Do not post it publicly, in a parent group, or in the Help Center, and do not paste it into support chat. Share it only with the intended guest teacher.
End or replace guest access
Use Revoke on the saved plan when coverage ends or a link reaches the wrong person. The link also stops working when its selected period expires. Replace link invalidates the earlier link and creates a new one; copy and send the replacement.
If the guest sees an expired or unavailable page, the authorized teacher should check the saved plan and link status. Do not send the owner’s login or promise that an old link can be restored. Message Levels if a new link still does not work.
Hand progress back after class
The substitute should tell the regular teacher what was taught, what needs another pass, and any general teaching notes. An authorized signed-in teacher checks the correct class and marks only the lesson actually taught. Opening a guest link or saving a substitute plan does not advance class progress.
For ongoing coverage, ask the owner or administrator to invite the teacher with their own email and assign the class. A guest lesson link is not a replacement for normal team access. Keep dancer-specific information in the studio’s approved records.
